I'm just a man

In my honors class in literature we finished reading Fahrenheit 451 (very good book by the way). For our final project we had to do something creative to show the conflict in the book. I wrote a song by re-writing the lyrics to the song Superman (It's not easy) by Five For Fighting. I wrote the song in the point of view of the main character Montag. If you have read the book you will understand the song more just like the original song Superman (It's not easy). I hope you enjoy and the numbers in the parentheses are the page numbers of that line in the book Fahrenheit 451 by the way.

I'm just a man

Lyrics by Stokes-The-Mighty and Ray Bradbury with Five For Fighting
Music from Superman (It's not easy) by Five For Fighting

Stay up in the night
To put up fire's light
This is what my life
Is turned out to be like
I'm just a man
Who lives in a world
Where TVs and programs come to life
And it's not easy to be me
I'll hold onto the world tight someday. (162)
I've got a finger on it now; that a beginning. (162)
I'm just a man
Who lives in a world
Where I don't need to read or write or learn
I'm just a man
Who knows it's not right
But some girls still think in the dark of night
That's not easy for me now
Some think all ideas are bad
They might be right
Though some still talk at night
And they're not crazy or anything
Many people idle away their life
Some still live in a shadow of what it used to be
But you can't make people listen. (153)
They have to come 'round on their own time, (153)
wondering what happened and why the world blew up under them. (153)
And I used to say
It was a pleasure to burn. (3)
But it's not easy to burn them now!

*I don't own music to the song and I did not come up with the quoted lines, those are from Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. I just wrote some lines and arranged them to the music.*
